Photo Technique: Closer

Todays Technique is more of a “Secret Tip” as most people taking a photo tries to put too much into the frame instead of filling the frame with the subject. It is far better to take a few steps closer if you can or use your Optical Zoom to “Tighten Up” on the main subject. You really want to close in on the subjects face. People viewing the photo will get lost in the image and not know what to look at. So if you put more of the subject you want to show or take a photo of into the frame the better you “Tell your Story”.

10 Way to Take More Creative Photos - Break the Rules

Camera LensEveryone always tells you that you need to follow the rules for good photographs. Well, Here are "10 Rules" on how to break the rules. The Blog entry on is about How to be a Curious Photographer. Since there one only 10 ways I will only touch upon a few here as the full article is a wonderful read.

His First Rule is not to follow the rules - There are tons of rules for a photographer to follow but don't - Break the rules.

Next - ASK Questions - About Your work - Your Camera - About Other peoples photographs Pretty much anything - Just ask don't be shy.

Don't Forget to PLAY - Enjoy what you are doing - have fun with photography. If you make it a chore then it will not be fun. I often thought about trying to take 1 photo a day - But then I would have thought I would have felt too much pressure and ended up hating the Idea of doing that assignment.

And that last rule that is mentioned is to slow down - I say enjoy the moment and take in what you are doing and creating. Remember a few years back we all had to be patient with photography. You took the film to be developed and had to sometimes wait an hour or two to have your photos developed but with the advent of digital cameras - it seems to have made people more impatient and wanting that NOW attitude. So, as a photographer - again I state enjoy the moment and take your time - get the best photo for the moment.
